Castle Rock Elementary: Learning Beyond the Classroom
At CRE, Project Based Learning (PBL) is at the heart of our teaching. Through real-world challenges and hands-on collaboration, students build cross-curricular skills and deepen their understanding of core subjects. Projects come to life through posters, dioramas, presentations, photography, spoken word, and more.
Our unique outdoor classroom—nestled in a natural backyard habitat—offers students daily opportunities to learn through nature. In partnership with Castle Rock’s Open Space and Trails Department, students help maintain and enhance our trail systems while exploring native plants and wildlife, including deer, foxes, and coyotes.
CRE meets the needs of our diverse learners through rich programming during and after school. Students can join choir, Battle of the Books, art club, a fall musical, HEX athletics, Field Day, Coyote Fitness Challenge, and our student leadership team focused on community service.
Our active PTO hosts events like Turkey Bingo, the Sock Hop, and Popcorn Fridays, and partners with local restaurants for family spirit nights—all while raising funds to support our vibrant school community.
